George Grosz The Eclipse of the Sun

Along with Otto Dix, the art of Grosz consisted of commentary on the social realism of post WW l society in Berlin. His art spoke to associations with Dada and New Objectivity associated with the Degenerate art so hated by Hitler himself a thwarted artist.

Curiously enough, Grosz was a lover of American literature and the freedoms represented by writers such as James Fenimore Cooper.
