Jessica Lange Photography

Actress and photographer, Jessica Lange, has received honors from the George Eastman House International Museum for her work. Lange studied photography at the University of Minnesota before acting brought her fame and mention. She has continued to photograph the world around as her acting career and humanitarian efforts have taken her around the globe.

I saw several of her prints at the Joshua Mann Pailet's Gallery for Fine Photography while living in New Orleans. All of the images were in black and white, very relaxed and elegant. There is a sense of time holding still in her work, nothing is rushed or anxious. Simultaneously  grainy and crisp, she captures a sense of stillness and projects an intense focus on her subjects that is entirely egoless.

50 Photographs By Jessica Lange with an introduction by Patti Smith, Powerhouse Books, $60.
