When you have 9 year old girls coming up to you in class and saying that they hate Valentine's Day, you realize it is time to plant some seeds of love.
Valentine's Day is not openly celebrated here and you come to appreciate the things you previously took for granted, so I've been thinking about some of those things a little differently this year.
My oldest daughter is on the "I hate V-day" train this year and I decided we should celebrate love for love's sake, not what we have come expect for ourselves from the day.
Think for a minute about something that makes you really happy - a song, a hug, being with a particular person, laughing until you cry, dancing to your favorite music, smelling a beautiful flower, seeing people hug one another at the airport. Okay, now let that feeling permeate your being. Got it? Now, project that feeling outward and see if you can pass it along to someone else. Don't be detered by haters - this is not their day!
Surely, there is someone in your life who would truely appreciate being remembered on this day. Someone in your office, a neighbor, a relative or a friend you haven't seen in a long time. Now's as good a chance to tell someone you love them. You, or they, may not be around next year for you to tell them you love them.

Today would have been five years for us...except im going through, yet, another divorce. I got Jeffrey (my two year old) chocolates and he was so excited. Thanks for sharing this. :)

Thank you, im glad too. This was exactly what I needed to remind me about valentines day. Its not just about you're significant other, nut about those you truly love; friends, kids, family. :)
