Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman filming in Scotland

Turns out we were in Edinburgh as the same time as Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth arrived to begin filming, "The Railway Man".

Crews working on The Railway Man are understood to be setting up at the Cockenzie and Port Seton British Legion on Monday, with the big name duo at the forefront.

The club, which has its own pipe and drum band, sits close to the shore of the Forth in West Harbour Road.

Susan Bellany, a barmaid at the Thorntree Inn, said: “It is exciting and there’s a bit of a buzz around the place, especially with Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman being such big names.

“They might come in for a pint. We’ll have our lippy on in case.”

Kirsty Fraser, who works behind the bar at Cockenzie and Port Seton Bowling Club, said: “Nothing much goes on here normally so it’s good news. A lot of people will watch the film just to see our area in it.”

Donna Thomson, a development assistant at Port Seton Community Centre, added: “I think it’s fantastic. We don’t get too many Hollywood stars around here.”

The Railway Man tells the story of Edinburgh-born Second World War prisoner of war Eric Lomax, played by Firth, who spent years in Japan’s notorious Changi prisoner of war camp.

Kidman, who plays Lomax’s wife, Patti, has already been spotted at Gosford Bothy farm shop and cafe near North Berwick.
